Brief Narrative
The Accounting department has expressed the need to hire an additional Accountant. The Accounting Personnel contacts the Human Resources Department and gives them a list of requirements for the new hire.
The Human Resources department posts the job opening through multiple mediums. Applicants apply by submitting their resume via e-mail, fax or in-person. An employee from the HR department receives the resumes and inputs them into the employment system. All resumes are stored in the Applicant data storage. The system compares the resumes against job requirements by searching for key words. The requirements are a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and at least two years experience in an accounting related field. Applicants’ resumes are divided into" Yes" and "No" groups based on matching keywords. The system displays all applicants in the “Yes” group to the HR employee. The HR employee then contacts these applicants for an interview. HR inputs the interview date and time in to the system. The system stores the scheduled interview.
During the interview, the HR employee questions applicants about prior work history, education and any skills they feel would contribute to them succeeding at this job. The applicant provides answers to questions during the interview. An employee inputs the applicant’s answers into the employment system. The system stores the applicant's answers.
An HR employee then administers a basic accounting skills and ethics test. The test involves basic understanding of accounting rules and professional responsibilities. The tests are performed on paper and all results are input into the employment system by the HR employee. The system grades and stores the tests then displays the three high-scoring candidates to the employee.
After the interview, an HR employee reviews the applicants based on the interview, skills test and resume. The Human Resources Department selects their top candidate, inputs their decision into the system. The system then stores the decision.
